FABRIC Series
This series is composed of 1 mm strands of glass. (There are anywhere from1800 to 3700 strands in one piece depending on the number of layers used.) These strands are placed on a kiln shelf in layers at 90 degrees to each other. This makes the resulting piece very strong! I make great use of blending colors within a layer and from one layer to another which is a signature of my work.
I heat the layers together in a kiln just until they fuse together, but not too long, or the piece will lose its wonderful texture. After it’s fused but still at temperature, I manipulate the glass into the final shape, then cool (anneal) it.
